Earn Your Keep (EYK) and On-Target Earnings (OTE) -- What's The Difference and How They Work Together

We use a system called Earn Your Keep (EYK) to help you grow your base salary by hitting important milestones. You start at a lower base that is defined during your final interview, and as you prove your value ("earn your keep") and hit specific goals, your salary increases step-by-step — all the way up to your target base.

OTE means On-Target Earnings — your total potential monthly income if you also earn commissions, bonuses, or performance incentives.

Here’s how it works:
EYK = Your salary growth path

OTE = What you can earn if you perform well

Note: If you're already at your max base pay after hitting the final milestone and earn more bonuses = You can go beyond your OTE based on your monthly performance.

About the Role

Lycan is looking for an EV R&D Project Manager to be the central force keeping our design and engineering teams focused, aligned, and moving fast — ensuring every innovation hits the ground with purpose, precision, and production readiness.


Role Overview

In this role, you will lead and manage Lycan’s research and development projects — coordinating cross-functional contributors from battery engineers to vehicle designers. You are the anchor that turns creative chaos into momentum: aligning timelines, tracking milestones, removing roadblocks, and ensuring our R&D pipeline produces real, tangible progress.


This role blends technical project management, resource orchestration, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring that each new model, system, or smart product moves from idea to prototype with speed and structure.


Primary Objectives


  • Orchestrate Cross-Functional Project Execution: Lead collaboration between engineering, design, production, and executive teams to complete key development projects on time.

  • Track Milestones and Deliverables: Monitor schedules, enforce deadlines, and keep everyone accountable to their commitments.

  • Unblock Teams & Solve Bottlenecks: Identify problems early, coordinate solutions, and keep the momentum alive.

  • Bridge Vision and Execution: Ensure that the goals of the project (performance, budget, innovation) are aligned with Lycan’s product strategy.


Key Tasks & How They're Done


Build & Maintain Project Plans

→ Use Notion, Google Sheets, or project management tools to map timelines, assign tasks, and track % completion.


Coordinate Weekly Progress Syncs

→ Lead stand-ups or 1-on-1s with designers, engineers, and builders to keep all teams aligned and adaptive.


Create Visibility Dashboards

→ Prepare and share clear reports for leadership — showing what’s done, what’s delayed, and what’s next.


Manage Resource Allocation

→ Flag gaps in tools, budget, or team availability — and work with operations to keep projects resourced.


Support Testing & Documentation Cycles

→ Ensure every milestone is backed by usable outputs (CADs, builds, BOMs, test results).


Ensure Timely Delivery and Ensure That The Project Remains Within the Budget

→ Ensure that deadlines and deliverables per sprint are delivered and cost overruns are avoided.

Growth Pathways After This Role:


Senior R&D Program Manager

Manage multiple high-priority R&D initiatives simultaneously (e.g., new motorcycle platform + battery swap tech + smart diagnostic system).


Head of Product Operations – R&D

Build scalable systems for how Lycan initiates, manages, and tracks R&D initiatives company-wide.


Director of Innovation Delivery

Lead long-term planning across engineering, design, and business — ensuring the pipeline aligns with market timing and strategic direction.


R&D Co-Creation Partner or Technical Co-Founder (Future Subsidiaries)

Work with external startups or innovators under Lycan’s umbrella to scale niche EV, software, or battery solutions.


EYK Milestone Track (PHP25,000 → PHP60,000/month)


Each salary jump is earned by delivering clear, measurable progress in Lycan’s R&D ecosystem — increasing output speed, aligning teams, and removing friction from the innovation cycle. Every milestone should generate at least ₱900,000+ in value through project acceleration, prototype completion, or reduced rework.


Milestone 1 → PHP35,000/month

Successfully manage and complete 1 R&D prototype cycle — coordinating at least 3 disciplines (e.g., design, engineering, testing) and delivering a tangible prototype on time and with high quality.


Milestone 2 → PHP45,000/month

Implement a project tracking system (dashboard, task board, or Notion hub) that centralizes all deliverables and is actively used by at least 2 project teams for 4+ weeks.


Complete an entire project (concept to pre-production) within the given timeline with cost overruns not exceeding 15% of the original budget.


Milestone 3 → PHP52,000/month

Initiate, open, and deploy a second project with at least five external (5) co-producers, validated by the market with at least 100 waitlist and 20 paid reservations.


Milestone 4 → PHP58,000/month

Manage 2+ R&D initiatives simultaneously and deliver both with 90% of deliverables complete and no more than 10% milestone delays.


Milestone 5 → PHP60,000/month

Contribute to the creation of a scalable R&D pipeline system (including intake, kickoff, milestone planning, and review protocols) that can be used across future R&D projects.


Additional Notes:
  • Milestones are validated by the Chief Product Architect, engineering lead, or department heads.

  • Bonuses may be awarded for early project completions (30 days ahead of time), strategic pilot launches, or savings in R&D expenses.

  • Long-term performers may earn project equity shares or IP credits for cross-disciplinary R&D programs.
